A new kind of superhero
Super Why loves to dress up as Superman, he wears an old Halloween costume and runs around the house defeating bad guys. Well he has been potty training for the last few weeks so he's been running around with very little clothes on to make it easier for him until he gets the hang of it. He still wanted to play Superman the other day, but there is just no way he's going to be able to untie and get a one piece costume off in time, so he decided that the cape would suffice. About twenty minutes later he comes streaking by me in his t-shirt, cape and legwarmers?!? A friend had knitted a pair of wrist warmers for all the kids, to keep them warm and dry between their gloves and sleeves, apparently Super Why thought they worked better on his legs. He told me they were his robot cuffs. So what kind of Mom would I be if I didn't take a picture of my child doing something that he will find embarrassing in 10 years.

Baby laughs
The other day Super Why was jumping on the treadmill and for some reason The Babe with the Power thought it was the funniest thing ever. Of course once the camera came out he had settled down a bit, but he was really laughing hard.

Christmas

For Christmas Eve, we went to my Aunt's house. The kids always have a great time there. Cheeseburger Boy was giving Megan a hard time, he would not give her a hug or take a picture with her until she sang the rubber ducky song with him. The Babe with the Power was content being passed around. Bookworm and Super Why didn't stay in one place too long, although they did spend a few minutes listening and watching Aunty's little piano with the dancing snowmen.

It has become tradition for my Mom and Cal to come over early Christmas morning to watch the kids open their presents. This year Grampa da Cow (as named by Cheesebureger Boy a few years ago) had to work so he didn't get to come but at least he was able to stop and say Merry Christmas on his way by. The Babe with the Power was in an awesome mood and spent most of the day smiling at and chatting with his Grandma. The expressions on the kids faces were priceless. There were shrieks and screeches coming from all over, the kids were bouncing across the floor. We put the tree in the craft room this year and at one point there was so many toys and so much wrapping paper that you really couldn't see the floor in there or the living room and the couch was so full there was no where to sit. Super Why got overwhelmed and gave up on opening presents. The Babe with the Power had no clue what all the hub bub was about. Bookworm was thrilled with the books she got from a book of the month club Grandma got her, she ended up curling up in her bed reading for a good two hours. When Deli Dude opened his presents you could tell he was pleased although he's at that age where you know it's just not cool to show your parents how happy you are. It was a fantastic day, everyone had a great time. There was so much food that I ended up freezing a lot, enough for at least six or seven meals.

Table talk
We were having dinner the other night, chicken, rice, salad and the kids favorite asparagus. Of course the kids loaded up on asparagus, Cheeseburger Boy had four servings with dinner then while we were cleaning the table up he grabbed the asparagus container and ditched his fork in favor of the serving spoon and proceeded to eat the rest of the asparagus.
The Babe with the Power is going to be starting on solid foods next week so we decided it was time for him to start to get comfortable in his new highchair, plus we want him to be able to be with us at the table while we eat without having to hold him. He did really well, he looks like such a big boy, 4 months old already.

Blessed Yule!

Yesterday we celebrated Yule (Winter Solstice) here. It was a great day for the kids, they each got to open a gift from us and a gift from their secret shopper. Holidays are expensive, especially for a family the size of mine. The kids all wanted to buy for each other which of course would mean my wallet getting lighter, so instead of them buying for each sibling they did a secret shopper drawing and each bought for one person. The things they chose were so cute and it really was inexpensive they each spent $5.00 or less. Yule really is not really about gifts, so the things we gave the kids were little or handmade. This year for Bookworm I made a purse out of a pair of jeans she has outgrown. After dinner we all decorated a gingerbread house together, it really was a great day.

Holiday fundraiser

Well my fundraiser last week turned out great. I was short staffed but we made it through. The kids had a great time. It ended up being a family affair, most of my helpers were related or good friends. Deli Dude and Bookworm were big helpers, Bookworm helped Blais man a table while Deli Dude was a personal shopper for kids that attended. The Babe with the Power made sure his Aunty, Daddy and Mom had soggy shoulders all day. It was a little slower than usual, but there were a few other events taking place in town at the same time this year. Cheeseburger Boy and Super Why came and shopped and them hung out and "helped." I wish I was able to get more pictures, but I just didn't have the time.

For the Dogs

So the holiday fundraiser I chair every year for the PTO is on Saturday and I'm a bit behind since everyone in the house has been sick in the last two weeks. I still need to make a few lip balms and 100 packages of dog bones to sell. While Super Why and The Babe With The Power were napping and Bookworm was at school, Cheeseburger Boy and I decided it would be a good idea to make some of our dog bones. We made the milk bone variety and they were really quite simple. The first batch looked a lot paler than the ones you buy so on the next batch I used half white flour and half wheat flour, they looked great. Although they are perfectly fine for human consumption I did not try them, i figured we would leave that up to the dogs.
